Health headlines: December 2024

The latest in medical and wellness news you need to know.

It’s the last day of a most eventful year, but here are a few nuggets of news you must know before we dive into 2025.

Russia develops new cancer vaccine, set to launch in early 2025.

Expected to be distributed free of charge to Russian citizens, the new mRNA-based vaccine is said to suppress tumours and reduce metastasis. It’s a revolutionary personalised treatment that uses genetic material taken from the patient’s tumour, which it aims to combat rather than prevent the formation thereof.

“Saree cancer” linked to tightly tied petticoats

A tightly tied waist cord of the underskirt (petticoat) traditionally worn under a saree, particularly in rural parts of India, may lead to what has been dubbed 'petticoat cancer' or ‘saree cancer’ warn doctors in the journal BMJ Case Reports after treating two women with this type of malignancy.

The continued pressure and friction on the skin can cause chronic inflammation, leading to ulceration, and, in some cases, progression to skin cancer, say the authors.

Embalmers find novel “white fibrous clots” in corpses post 2021

Major Tom Haviland appeared on Dr. John Campbell’s YouTube channel to showcase white fibrous clots thought to made up of amyloid protein, fibrinogen, and colourless platelets that seem to have built up in the circulatory systems of the deceased prior to their deaths.

Embalmers have been finding these white clots, which appear moulded to the shape of the veins and arteries; a phenomenon that has never been seen prior to 2021, thus embalmers suspect the clots formation is linked to the COVID mRNA vaccine.

Remember, health is wealth and knowledge is power.
